Optimizing the supply chain (→Flyer)

As part of the “Beer Game” simulation, the participants work in a simplified but very realistic supply chain from the manufacturer to the consumer. In competition with competitors, it is necessary to cover the customer needs at the lowest cost. If everyone does their best and optimizes their own area, the whole chain should benefit – or not? What significance do cooperation and communication have in the supply chain? What is the effect of a lack of experience, fears or unrealistic goals? The participants learn this first-hand. In the subsequent analysis, the personal findings are compiled and supplemented with insights from the system dynamics. How do companies in different industries deal with cooperation and communication today? Which is the best strategy in competition?

This simulation becomes particularly valuable if it also involves internal or external suppliers or customers. The simulation offers a “neutral” platform where participants can discuss problems and solutions without having to personally relate them to their daily interactions. Having a common understanding of the underlying issues makes it much easier to find common solutions in the real world.
